(City of Tempe/Tempe Police Department)

INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A suspect on the run from Phoenix authorities made a poor choice along the way - driving into the Tempe Police Department's parking garage, officials said.
The incident began Nov. 21 in Phoenix where officers were searching for a man who fled to the Downtown Tempe area.
At about 11:30 that night, Tempe police received a request for assistance from Phoenix and discovered the suspect drove through the exit guard arm and entered into the Tempe Police Department headquarters parking garage, according to a release.
Phoenix and Tempe police surrounded the garage, and the man was found with the courtyard and taken into custody. He also was taken to a hospital, officials said.
His car was found on the second floor, and a gun that Tempe police said the man had ditched was found on the third floor.
“The man admitted to jumping from the second floor into the courtyard to run from police,” the release stated.
Phoenix police are handling the case for felony flight and crimes related to an original offense in the city.
Tempe police will take the case for the arrest, criminal damage and trespassing, according to the release which noted:
"We can’t make this stuff up!
Man runs from Phoenix Police… right into the hands of Tempe Police! "
