Tempe PD makes an arrest in fatal shooting

The Tempe Police Department announced it has made an arrest in a fatal shooting. 

A man, identified as Christopher Hoopes, has been taken into custody after he was "startled" by his wife in the middle of the night and shot her. Colleen Hoopes, 25,  was pronounced dead at the hospital on May 20, according to a news release from the department. 

Officers with Tempe PD and Tempe Fire & Medical Rescue responded to the call at 1415 S. College Avenue at approximately 3:45 a.m. 

Christopher Hoopes has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon. 

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
