Tempe noise ordinance update allows for earlier spring, summer construction

Posted

The Tempe City Council recently updated the community’s noise ordinance to comply with a new Arizona state law allowing earlier construction activity during late spring/summer months.

From May 1 to Oct. 15, general construction is now permitted:

  • 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
  • Concrete pouring may begin at 4 a.m.

“The ordinance changes reflect a growing awareness of how extreme heat impacts workers and project timelines. The goal is to help employers start work earlier and reduce heat exposure for laborers,” city officials stated in a release following the council’s June 5 approval.
