Tempe’s annual Neighborhood Celebration Event has been set for Saturday, April 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Kiwanis Park Fiesta Ramadas, 5711 S. All-America Way.
The city invites the community to connect with each other over free coffee and breakfast refreshments, yard games, free event t-shirts (while supplies last) and a lively, informal awards celebration, according to a city release.
This year community members can enjoy free Brick Road Coffee, breakfast items, live music by Bohemian Insurgence and shopping with local vendors like Uplighten Life, Naked Fig Soap, Map Stand and Voyce Threads.
Children are welcome to play yard games that are provided by Tempe’s Play Mobile, the release added.
The celebration is free to attend and the whole community is invited. Tempe’s mayor and city council, small businesses, local organizations, boards and commission members, residents and volunteers will also be present.
Mayor Corey Woods said in the release that each year, community members attend the event in droves to “laugh, learn and connect at the park.”
“Compassionate, connected and uniquely Tempe neighborhoods are sources of comfort, strength and beauty for the residents who live in them,” Woods said. “The Neighborhood Celebration is a chance to honor and build on Tempe’s strong community bonds.”
In addition to community connection, this event also celebrates those who go above and beyond to serve the Tempe community.
Earlier this year, Tempe asked residents to nominate their neighbors for awards, the release detailed. Award possibilities include honors for individuals, neighborhoods, spaces, events or initiatives related to community-building, arts and culture, water conservation and sustainability.
Winners will be recognized at the event along with Dolores Huerta Scholarship recipients.
