Ballet Arizona recently announced its upcoming production Spring Mix, which will run from March 27 to 30 at Orpheum Theatre, blending bold innovation with timeless beauty and featuring performances from Tempe artists.
A program of contemporary ballets, Spring Mix celebrates masterful and diverse choreography with works from both emerging and celebrated choreographers, a press release explained. This year’s program features works by Christopher Wheeldon, Robert Bondara and a new world premiere by Ballet Arizona’s resident choreographer Nayon Iovino.
Audiences will enjoy musical compositions from Ezio Bosso, Antonio Vivaldi, Radiohead, local composer Thomas Breadon Jr., and live musical accompaniment by Tempe-based ensemble Mill Ave Chamber Players.
Featuring an outstanding soundtrack of classical, contemporary and alternative music, Ballet Arizona will present the following ballets:
Daniela Cardim, Ballet Arizona’s artistic director said in the release that they are thrilled to support Iovino’s growth as a choreographer with his world premier that showcases his artistic evolution and innovation.
“We are also equally excited to bring Robert Bonadara’s exquisite contemporary ballet to the Valley,” Cardim said. “Its powerful, slick choreography will resonate with (audiences) and elevate the experience of dance.”
In addition, Ballet Arizona will present its Studio Spotlight performance for Spring Mix on March 14 at 7 p.m. at Ballet Arizona’s Dorrance Theater.
During this add-on event, attendees can experience a behind-the-scenes look at this production as they attend an in-studio rehearsal with the dancers, learn more about the production from Ballet Arizona’s artistic team, and engage in a Q&A. Space is limited for this event and advanced purchase is encouraged, the release noted.
Single tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Ballet Arizona box office at 602-381-1096. Group sales and season subscriptions are also available online, as well as tickets to the Studio Spotlight performance.
