A Tempe Community Action Agency program is celebrating 17 years serving the unsheltered, and it is looking for new partners to continue its work.
The Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program relies on local faith organizations and community volunteers.
They “come together every night of the year to provide access to sleeping space, evening meals, shower and laundry services and other important support,” program officials said in a release.
Up to 40 men and women are assisted each night, according to the release.
I-HELP partners with the city of Tempe to serve unsheltered individuals and connect them to resources that can help end their homelessness.
An open house is scheduled 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Grace Community Church, 1200 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, for those who want to learn how to get involved and celebrate the program’s 17th birthday.
