As part of Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s National Day of Giving, the construction manager’s Southwest division spent an afternoon volunteering with Feed My Starving Children to help fight child hunger in Mesa.

On Sept. 1, six of AP Southwest’s Tempe-based employees — alongside 30 community volunteers — packed 38 boxes of MannaPack meals formulated to supplement nutritional needs and reduce problems with malnutrition. The effort resulted in 8,208 meals, which will feed approximately 22 children for a year, according to a release.

“It’s humbling how much of a difference 44 people can make in the lives of food-insecure children in just a couple of hours,” Amara Boesch, regional marketing director for Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s Southwest division, said in the release. “Organized through AP’s National Day of Giving, volunteering with Feed My Starving Children in Mesa gave us another opportunity to connect with our local community on a deeper level and show them our appreciation.”

Adolfson & Peterson recently announced a company-wide “Day of Giving” program, encouraging team members in the Midwest, Southwest and Gulf States to give back to their local communities in the month of September, the release states.

The business has historically provided donations and service to organizations that exist in the communities it serves, including disaster relief and rebuilding, at-risk children and adults, local food banks, hospitals and health organizations, schools, and other nonprofits and charitable foundations.

The Day of Giving builds on those programs and relationships and provides a focused effort and paid time off for employees to give back in a meaningful way, the release states.
