5 Tempe businesses made the cut

More than 30 Arizona companies were named to the third annual Inc. 5000 Regionals Southwest list, a ranking of the fastest-growing private companies based in Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

That list of 30 included five businesses based in Tempe.

Born of the annual Inc. 5000 franchise from Inc. magazine, the Inc. 5000 Regionals list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the Southwest economy’s independent small businesses.

“This year’s Inc. 5000 Regional winners represent one of the most exceptional and exciting lists of America’s off-the-charts growth companies,” Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk said. “They’re disruptors and job creators, and all delivered an outsize impact on the economy. Remember their names and follow their lead. These are the companies you’ll be hearing about for years to come.”

Kayo Energy ranked No. 4 with 2,402% growth reported. Pomchies followed closely behind at No. 5 with 2,259% growth. Icon Power ranked in the 25th position with 430% growth, Cordless Media was No. 40 with 291% growth and WealthAbility made the list in the 97th spot with 106% growth.

Scottsdale’s Emerge was the highest-ranked Arizona company in the second position with a whopping 4,413% growth reported.

“The quick decision to pivot our business to focus on producing fun, comfortable and functional facial masks saved my business,” says Heather Clark, founder and owner Pomchies company, the leader in fashion accessories from headwear and luggage tags to pet products and water bottle carriers — all made from durable, stretchy, washable, swimwear material. “I am extremely grateful for the efforts of my staff and everyone involved with my company for raising the bar when we needed it to the most. It is very humbling to be included among the admirable companies on this list.”
