The Tempe Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Leadership Conference on Friday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Phoenix Tempe.
Sponsored by Becton Dickson, this event brings together professionals from all industries for a day of learning, networking and leadership development, a press release explained.
Designed to empower, educate and elevate attendees whether you are an emerging leader or a seasoned executive, this event provides valuable strategies to navigate challenges, lead with confidence, and drive success in your career, the release detailed.
One of the highlights will be the announcement of the 2025 Business Woman of the Year winner, celebrating a leader who has made a significant impact in the Tempe business community.
The 2025 Business Woman of the Year finalists are:
Kema Charles - Lights Camera Discover
Charles has dedicated over a decade to providing underserved youth with access to filmmaking, animation and workforce development programs that foster creativity, teamwork and career readiness. She is a visionary leader, filmmaker and advocate for youth empowerment through digital arts and STEAM education.
Sue Rigler - Hundred Mile Brewing Co.
Rigler is the owner of Hundred Mile Brewing Company in Tempe which opened in October 2022. Her brewery offers a variety of craft beers alongside a menu offering flavor-packed dishes, creating a vibrant space for the Tempe community. In 2023, Hundred Mile Brewing was awarded the Small Business of the Year honor by the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.
Carly Schorman - Homecoming Inc.
Schorman is a dedicated funeral industry professional and advocate for ethical deathcare practices. As a writer, educator and speaker, Schorman covers a range of topics including ethical business practices, recruitment and retention, digital media creation, content management and innovative approaches to marketing and advertising. With expertise in modern deathcare practices, funeral rites and liturgy, Schorman is committed to advancing the industry with integrity and compassion.
Robin Arredondo-Savage, president and CEO of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce said in the release the women nominated for the Business Woman of the Year Award are “true inspirations.”
"Their leadership, passion and commitment to our community make Tempe a stronger, more vibrant place. We are proud to celebrate their remarkable contributions,” Arredondo-Savage said.
Additionally, there will be a fireside chat with Arizona Supreme Court Justice Maria Elena Cruz, who is the first Latina and Black justice to serve on the state's highest court. Hear her story about relocating from Puerto Rico to Arizona with her family at age 14 and what stoked her passion to serve, the release noted.
Award-winning author, publisher and international speaker, Bridgett McGowan will also be featured and will discuss communicating with confidence and authority.
