The Arizona Cardinals’ 37 touchdowns this season may not have accounted for many wins, but the scores had an impact on teachers and their students.
Salt River Project’s partnership with Cardinals Charities recently completed the fourth year of its Touchdowns for Teachers program, which awarded grants to two teachers each time the team scored a touchdown.
This year, the Tempe-based utility said the 74 winning teachers received $37,000 in grants, according to a press release.
“There’s no such thing as a losing season when your team puts $500 in the hands of dozens of teachers who need that money to help their students,” Kevin Rolfe, SRP senior education representative, said.
In addition to the Touchdown for Teachers program, SRP officials said they support education in other ways, providing $1.3 million in teacher resources and grants in 2021.
“From hands-on teacher workshops to grants for educators, SRP supports teachers as they innovate for the future and create classroom environments where everyone can succeed,” SRP officials said in the release.
