The partnership between Salt River Project and the Arizona Cardinals aimed at bringing in grants for teachers is underway again as the NFL season prepares to kick off.
The Touchdowns for Teachers program awards $500 to two teachers every time the Cardinals score a touchdown during a regular NFL game.
So far, the program has given out $269,000 to more than 538 teachers.
“Teachers play a crucial role in shaping our future, and initiatives like Touchdowns for Teachers are a fun and engaging way to support the work educators do for our students,” said SRP Community Engagement Manager Anita Tarango in a press release. “This program is just one of many ways SRP supports education and workforce development in our community.”
Applications opened Aug. 1 and will remain open until the Cardinals' last regular season game, scheduled for Jan. 5, 2025, against the San Francisco 49ers. Grants are open to teachers at public, charter or nonprofit private schools within SRP's service territory.
