Residents invited to provide input on Tempe’s budget

Posted

Tempe is formulating the operating and capital budgets for fiscal year 2025-26, which begins on July 1, and it's asking residents for their input.

Every year, one of the most important things a city does is plan and pass an annual operating and capital budget, a city release explained. Tempe’s budget covers all services and programs for residents, including recreation and cultural programs, trash and recycling, streets, parks, transportation options and public safety.

The budget is a reflection of community priorities, which is why Tempe needs input to help allocate the funds, the release stated. Here’s how community members can get involved.

The survey is open now through Feb. 28 at tempe.gov/forum

Attend a budget forum on Tuesday, Feb. 4:

  • Virtual: Tuesday, Feb. 4, noon, register for the Zoom meeting here
  • In Person: Tuesday, Feb. 4, 6 p.m., Tempe History Museum, 809 E Southern Ave., in the community room.

The virtual meeting will be recorded and available to view after Feb. 4 at tempe.gov/BudgetPlan. Learn more about the budget by seeing how this fiscal year’s budget shaped up here.

Additional public input opportunities will be available as part of the Tempe City Council’s planned budget meetings that occur between January and July.

Detailed information about the upcoming council budget meetings and the budget process is available at tempe.gov/BudgetPlan or by calling Tempe 311 at 480-350-4311.
