This winter, the city of Tempe is embarking on a strategic plan for public art installations throughout Tempe, and residents are invited to share ideas, preferences and priorities through an online survey and several upcoming public engagement events.
The public art planning process will culminate in the development of a comprehensive plan that outlines the city's vision for public art, identifies potential locations for installations and establishes guidelines for selecting and commissioning artwork — all aimed at enhancing the city's vibrant cultural landscape, a city release explained.
The initiative will involve a comprehensive community engagement effort. See the meetings below to get involved:
Wednesday, Nov. 20
Join a virtual kickoff meeting via Zoom at noon to learn more about the project and its goals.
Thursday Dec. 5
From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the historic Eisendrath House, discuss the project with members of the team and share your vision for public art in the city.
This public workshop will include a guided tour of the 1930s home, a presentation by artist and former Eisendrath occupant Jeff Zischke and active conversation and engagement about public art. Light refreshments will be served at this free event. Register now.
Through Friday, Jan. 31
An online survey is open now to collect feedback. In addition, the Tempe Public Art team will be popping up at various events and city locations to gather feedback throughout the survey period.
