INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A man is dead after being shot early Sunday morning while inside a car near Broadmor Drive and Rural Road in Tempe, police said.
Authorities learned about the shooting about 1 a.m. June 4 when a Tempe Medical Rescue vehicle was flagged down by a man at the Chevron gas station near Rural and Baseline roads. The rescue team found the victim with gunshot wounds and rendered aid until he was taken to a hospital where he died.
According to preliminary information, the victim was a passenger in the vehicle, whose driver was in the left-turn lane to go north on Rural Road when a SUV pulled up to the passenger side and shots were fired.
Police said the SUV fled in an unknown direction, but the suspects are known.
The victim’s vehicle left the shooting scene and stopped at the Chevron station.
An investigation continues, and police said there is no threat to the public.
