Fiber artists interested in learning more about a unique way to create landscape or portrait quilts are invited to attend “Bold Landscapes” by Vicki Conley from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 30-31, at the Pyle Center, 655 E. Southern Ave.

In this two-day class presented by the new Fiber Arts Center AZ, attendees will construct Conley’s toadstool rock formation pattern to learn her turned edge machine piecing technique as well as the “fussy piecing” technique she uses on her signature skies, a press release explained.

This is not applique; rather the quilt is constructed using Floriani Stitch and Wash fusible stabilizer that is left in the final piece to give body to the quilt and is soft and easy to sew through.

FAC chair Debra Kay said in the release that the center is privileged to have Conley teach this class.

“Vicki has an eye for interpreting the natural world and is best known for her original national park poster art quilts,” Kay said.

Conley has been exhibited nationally and internationally and was part of Quilt National 2017 and 2024. For details about Conley, visit https://www.vicki-conley.com
