HonorHealth is planning to buy three hospitals, a standing emergency room operation and other medical practices from Steward Health Care.
The Scottsdale-based HonorHealth, which has various hospitals and health care operations around the Phoenix area, agreed to assume operational control of the facilities with the intent of taking over full operational ownership of the Steward facilities, according to a press release Thursday.
“As a trusted health care provider and community partner, HonorHealth has a strong track record of patient safety and experience, clinical excellence, and top tier employee and physician engagement,” says Todd LaPorte, HonorHealth CEO, in the release.
The facilities being taken over are:
Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa;
St. Luke’s Hospital in Tempe;
Steward Mesa Hospital – Emergency Room;
Florence Hospital in Florence;
Multiple outpatient physician practices.
Steward filed for bankruptcy protection in Texas in May and had put the hopsitals up for slae. The move saw the Arizona Attorney General's Office step in to ensure the facilities stayed committed to patients.
HonorHealth did not release financial information about the deal, but said details would be coming on the transition in the coming weeks.
