Enjoy holiday shopping at Tempe History Museum on Dec. 1

Tempe History Museum is inviting shoppers to participate in Museum Store Sunday, an annual holiday shopping day supporting cultural institutions and their stores on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Enjoy special deals, promotions and light refreshments, plus find special gifts for everyone on your list, a city release stated. The museum’s store will be open from noon to 4 p.m.

At 2 p.m., attendees can also take part in the Tempe History Society’s Tree of Lights Celebration, an annual fundraiser that offers individuals a special way to pay tribute to a lost loved one. This free event will be held in the Tempe History Museum’s Community Room.

This year, more than 2,100 museum stores representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia, 25 countries and five continents will celebrate Museum Store Sunday and offer special gifts for the holiday season — with all purchases supporting its parent institution and the artisans and craftspeople who create many of the gifts found in museum stores, according to the release.

Purchasing gifts from museum stores reinvests into the local community and fosters local economic growth. While there is only one Museum Store Sunday every year, consumers are encouraged to shop at and support museum stores all year long, the release noted.
