ASU professor accused of killing his wife

Scottsdale police arrested Arizona State University professor David Zhu for allegedly shooting and fatally injuring his wife.

Authorities allege Zhu shot and killed his wife about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at a home in the 9300 block of North 128th Way. He was booked into Maricopa County Jail on a homicide charge.

Scottsdale police went to the home Saturday night after receiving reports of a shooting. They found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Police have not released the name of the victim.

Another woman and a minor were inside the home when the shooting occurred, according to Scottsdale Sgt. Allison Sempsis.

Newsweek reported that Zhu has been placed on administrative leave and banned from all university activities.

Zhu has been with ASU since 2009 and is listed as a professor and dean's council distinguished scholar in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Tempe campus on ASU's website.
