The Tempe Development Review Commission is to make a recommendation to the City Council on the project’s development plan review. The commission meets for a study session at 5:30 p.m. and a meeting at 6 p.m. May 13 in the City Council Chambers, 31 E. Fifth St.
The applicant is Snell & Wilmer LLP.
The Leo Tempe project at 835 S. Rural Road includes 786 units containing 2,300 bedrooms and almost 14,000 square feet of commercial space. Each of the two mixed-use buildings are 236 feet 10 inches high. The parking garage is 121 feet 8 inches high with perforated metal screen panels.
Plans propose one driveway on Rural Road on the south end of the site, one passenger driveway on University Drive on the east end of the site that leads into the garage, and an additional driveway on University Drive for fire and emergency vehicles that is designed with mountable curbs and signs to restrict passenger vehicle access, according to city records.
