The presentation “A Woman in STEM” (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) was Oct. 17 in Sun City West’s Webb Room, 14465 R.H. Johnson Blvd. Dr. Lindy Elkins-Tanton, Arizona State University Principal Investigator of  the NASA Psyche Mission and an authority on problem solving and critical thinking, spoke on how girls and women can follow their passion and  pursue careers in the STEM curriculum.

Dr. Elkins-Tanton spoke about the NASA Psyche Mission, a journey to a unique metal world of an asteroid, “Psyche,” orbiting the sun near Mars. The mission is in development and the spacecraft to explore Psyche is scheduled to launch in 2022. The Psyche Mission management team is led by Arizona State University and the purpose in space exploration, according to Dr. Elkins-Tanton, is to “inspire and connect with all of mankind.”
