WHAM starts May with busy slate

WHAM Art Center, 16560 N. Dysart Road, kicks off its May class schedule.

• The next WHAM Mini Workshop for adults is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 1. Each workshop will provide tips, ideas and additional skills to advance personal artworks or simply gain the experience of enjoying the arts.

This workshop is taught by a professional artist John Mahoney. The workshop is $45 for non-member and $35 for members.

• The WHAM Kids First Saturday of the month Arts & Crafts (ages 8 to 12) an Apples for Art program is from 1 to 3 p.m. May 1 and the subject is Butterfly Mobile — Butterfly Invasion.

The small arts and crafts projects, with a different medium each month, consists of either watercolors, mixed media, painting, crafts and small projects.
Only a $5 registration fee is required per child, thanks to sponsorships, donations and volunteers for the WHAM kids art programs.

• The next TeenWHAM member and activity meeting is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 5 and includes a daily art challenge and birthday recognition.

TeenWHAM art club meetings are created for open art projects in preparation for contests, events, community art project pieces, celebrating and welcoming new TeenWHAM members, recognizing teen participatory assignments and art projects, volunteer recognition and preparedness.

• The next in the series of kids drawing classes is from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. May 6. The class is for ages 5 to 7 and is $10. Kids art classes are designed to help create art in children’s development across many domains, physical, social, cognitive, emotional, imagination and experimentation development.

Art will help a child develop these skills and CARree Tolle is here to help each child develop and grow. Each class we will be concentrating on drawing techniques, most drawings will be able to be completed.
