Maestro Cal Stewart Kellogg and the 70-plus musicians of the West Valley Symphony perform 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 at Valley Vista Performing Arts Center, 15550 N. Parkview Place, Surprise.
The first production of 2020 showcases Great Romantic Music from Russia and Finland. Pianist Erin Hales returns to the Valley Vista stage to perform Rachmaninoff’s beloved Concerto No. 2 for piano. This concert will include the Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture by Glinka and Symphony No. 2, Op. 45 by Sibelius.
On Feb. 9, cellist Thomas Landschoot will join the Symphony musicians to perform Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor. Concert includes Haydn’s Symphony No. 99 in E-flat Major.
March 8 will highlight the soloistic powers of recently appointed Concertmaster Luke Avery Hill performing Prokofiev’s beautiful Concerto in D Major, Op. 19. This concert also includes Mozart’s Don Giovanni Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.
March 29 will feature the Phoenician Tenors performing some of the greatest arias by composers such as Verdi, Donizetti, Leoncavallo and Puccini.
