West Valley residents Gracie Carter and James Greenwald have received the Spirit of Philanthropy Award for the impact they’re making in the community by supporting Sun Health Foundation’s Generosity for Generations Campaign.

They were presented the award at the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Southern Arizona Chapter’s annual awards luncheon.

The Spirit of Philanthropy Award recognizes individuals or organizations who exemplify philanthropy and give back in significant ways through their contributions of time, talent and treasure.

This honor bestows formal praise to those who demonstrate extraordinary leadership and vision in support of an organization’s goals. This award not only recognizes their efforts but also inspires others.

“Gracie and Jim are making an important impact in the success of this Campaign, which has progressed to 74 percent of the $48 million goal,” said Gina W. Ore, chief philanthropy officer of Sun Health Foundation. “They are Legacy Leaders who actively inspire others to philanthropic action to ensure superior healthcare is available in the West Valley. We are touched by their heart and honored by their generosity.”

The campaign’s six initiatives respond to critical needs for advancements in and expansion of services at Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers, and for programs through Sun Health Wellness. These needs include emergency care, wellness programs, cancer treatment and technology, spine health and orthopedics, and women and infant services.

Health care is available for the community, because of the community, including Carter and Greenwald.
