Voter registration deadline is end of day July 6
Posted
Independent Newsmedia
Eligible Maricopa County voters have until the end of Monday, July 6 to register to vote in the August Primary Election.
Voters can go to Register.Maricopa.Vote to find information on eligibility requirements, voter status and more information on how to register to vote.
Voters have four ways they can submit their voter registration today:
Online at ServiceArizona.com by 11:59 p.m.
Drop off the completed hard copy voter registration form at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center drop box by 11:59 p.m. at 510 S. Third Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85003.
Fill out the hard copy form in person at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center, 510 S. Third Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85003 by 11:59 p.m.
Mail the completed hard copy. It must be postmarked July 6. (Check with your post office on what time they need to have it in hand for it to be postmarked July 6)
“While we are facing an on-going health crisis, we remain adaptable and responsive to the needs of voters,” stated Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes. “We want all eligible voters to register and have the opportunity to participate in a safe, secure and accessible August Primary.”
Maricopa County is expanding voting access for the August Primary Election, while focusing on the health and safety of voters and poll workers. Voters can choose to vote by mail or vote in-person from July 8-Aug. 4.
The number of Maricopa County voters requesting a ballot in the mail is on the rise, with the percent of voters on the Permanent Early Voting List exceeding three quarters of all voters for the first time. Registered voters can request a ballot in the mail at BeBallotReady.Vote by July 24.
In-person voters can expect to see locations large enough to allow for physical distancing. Since the county is moving to a Vote Center election model, voters can choose the time and location that works for them, including some evenings and weekends. We are implementing enhanced safety protocols, including requiring poll workers to wear masks, face shields and gloves, and frequently cleaning high-touch surfaces and sanitizing pens after each use. We will have masks and gloves available for all voters should they not bring their own.
With potentially historic voter turnout, the county is prepared for more than 700,000 voters to cast a ballot for the Primary Election. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, election models estimated about 100,000 of those voters would turnout on Election Day, Aug. 4.

Across Arizona
Statewide, to register to vote in Arizona, a voter must meet the following qualifications:
Be a United States citizen
Be a resident of Arizona and the county listed on your registration
Be 18 years of age or older on or before the day of the next regular General Election
July 6 is also the deadline for voters who need to update their voter registration if they:
Have recently moved to a new address
Legally changed their name
Would like to change their political party affiliation
Those with an Arizona Driver License and/or an Arizona non-operating I.D. card issued by the Motor Vehicle Division may register or update their voter registration online at ServiceArizona.com.
“Independents can participate in the August Primary Election without having to change their political party affiliation,” Secretary of State Katie Hobbs stated in a release. “Independent voters who wish to vote by mail will need to request their ballot type with their county recorder.”
“Voting by mail will help minimize direct contact with others and will help reduce crowd size at polling places,” Ms. Hobbs stated. “Voters are encouraged to request a ballot-by-mail to ensure that they have a safe and secure option for voting in this year’s elections.”
