Red-and-blue lights with no siren … why?

Procedure

Many times, officers only use their lights or siren to get through traffic but have to turn them off once approaching a scene. There are situations when you don’t want to alert the “bad guy” that you’re coming. Also, officers don’t put lights on their personal vehicles. Those are undercover police vehicles. My uncle was a sheriff’s deputy years ago and when they would go on a call, like a home robbery, they would use their lights as little as possible to not alert the people that are committing the act. — Jeffrey Gray

From personal experience, some situations lights and sirens are not used to respond. Active robbery and domestic violence are a couple of examples. If they hear or see you before you see them, the bad guy has the advantage! — Peter L. Garcia

What a complete waste of time. Look at the national statistics and you’ll find that less than 5,000 deaths nationwide can be attributed to driving while using a cell phone while driving in 2017. Quit begging for your chains! — Rick Brown
