Transit group supplies vaccine trips for Northwest Valley
Drivers connect community in need with vaccine

The pandemic aftermath is lingering, and businesses along with community services are pushing forward in partnership to change the environment.
March 13 was a demonstration of such an event.
Walgreens, a well-known pharmaceutical company in the area partnered with another recognized organization, Northwest Valley Connect, in an effort that offered COVID-19 vaccine transport to a number of vulnerable individuals who are 65 years and older, those with disabilities and veterans without access to an alternative ride service.
Volunteer drivers were family members, friends, or neighbors who provided round trip rides to the El Mirage Walgreens.
Matthew Pruitt, healthcare supervisor for Walgreens Retail and Pharmacy Operations, had an Immunizer in place to administer COVID-19 vaccine to 20 individuals scheduled by staff at Northwest Valley Connect.
Northwest Valley Connect Dispatcher Steve Royer, one of the coordinators in the partnership activities, praised the volunteers.
“Thanks to Matthew Pruitt and all NVC staff and volunteers who contributed to this success. Most importantly we all worked together for the well-being of our community members,” Mr. Royer said in a news release.
