Brian Lunn, a lifelong resident of Surprise, is completing his junior year at the United States Military Academy, receiving numerous awards along the way.

Most recently he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Society’s Platinum Chapter No. 204 on April 17.

Lunn attended schools in the Dysart Unified School District for all of his year of education, attending Valley Vista High School and graduating with honors in May 2020 in the top 1% of his class.

He was the president of the National Honor Society as well as several other officer positions in his four years at Valley Vista. Lunn was also the captain of the Valley Vista swim team during his senior year.

During his senior year of high school, Lunn applied to the United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., and after a very long process of applications to obtain the required Congressional nomination, he was granted interviews with Congresswoman Debbie Lesko and Senator Kyrsten Sinema whereby he was awarded three nominations, which is one of the requirements necessary to attend West Point.

Lunn received a letter of assurance from the admissions office at West Point. Once he received his official appointment from the admissions office, he would arrive to the Academy in July 2020.

Lunn’s selected major is in chemistry and nuclear engineering.

Cadet Lunn will graduate from the United States Military Academy-West Point on May 25, 2024, as a second lieutenant, at which time he will branch out and serve an additional five years in the United States Army.
