Twelve American Revolution Experience America 250 traveling exhibit panels were set up in the media center at Canyon Ridge Elementary School in Surprise on Feb. 18 and 19.
These exhibit panels were created by the American Battlefield Trust and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution organization to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.
Matching funds were from the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program battlefield interpretation grants.
These panels are traveling around the country to remind and to educate about the American Revolutionary War (1775 to 1783) events, which took place 250 years ago.
National Society Sons of the American Revolution and National Society Daughters of the American Revolution missions are to promote education, patriotism and historic preservation. Members of these lineage organizations are descendants of American patriots who helped win the American independence from the English king.
Presenters from the NSSAR Saguaro Chapter and NSDAR Agua Fria and Anasazi Chapters welcomed the students and talked to them about the information on the panels which covered roots of the rebellion and the involvement of ordinary men and women, Native Americans, free and enslaved Black patriots and German, French and Spanish immigrant patriots.
The students were able to ask questions and take notes. During the two days the exhibits were on display 530 students and 20 teachers and staff viewed the 12 panels.
