Surprise starts sign up for fall leagues

The Surprise Parks and Recreation Department is now registering for youth soccer, tee-ball, baseball, softball and volleyball leagues as well as sports skill classes and camps.

Youth pickleball and tennis programs are also available.

Regular registration for the 2021 fall sports leagues, camps and classes runs through July 23. Late registration begins July 26.

Offerings include:
• Youth soccer, tee-ball, baseball, softball & volleyball league: Leagues are for youth ages 4 to 17. Programs begin in September and end in early November. Games are played on Saturdays and/or weeknights. Practice times are up to the volunteer coach, and are typically one-hour, once a week (5:25, 6:30 or 7:35 p.m.).

Age is determined on or before Nov. 30. For league details, visit surpriseaz.gov/youthsports.

• Sports skills classes and camps: Surprise offers a variety of six-week skills classes for youth ages 6 to 15. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball skills classes will take place in August though December. Sports camps are also available for youths ages 7 to 15. • Pickleball and tennis programs: Pickleball and tennis programming starts in early August. Registration for both programs takes place through July 16. For a list of programs visit surpriseaz.gov/tennis.
