Surprise is seeking volunteers for Day of Service events on Saturday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 31.
A Neighborhood Revitalization and Cleanup event is slated from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 20. Volunteers will participate in various projects throughout the city including landscaping, painting, trimming of shrubs, debris removal and more.
The neighborhood revitalization and cleanup events assist neighborhoods and homeowners who may not be physically or financially able to maintain their homes as required by local codes.
Registered volunteers will meet at the Surprise Senior Center, 15832 N. Hollyhock St.
Check in times will be staggered due to COVID-19 and will be emailed to registered volunteers. The first group will arrive at 8 a.m.
Participants are required to wear face coverings.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 31, volunteers can show community pride by participating in a day of community service at St. Mary’s Food Bank.
Volunteers assist with sorting bulk food items, creating food baskets and loading food into vehicles; helping in the process of providing food for families in need.
Registered volunteers will meet at St. Mary’s Food Bank: 13050 W. Elm St.
Participants are required to wear face coverings and will be split into small groups.
Individuals and groups can register with Larry Garcia at Larry.Garcia@surpriseaz.gov or 623-222-1522. Groups need to submit a group name and estimated number of volunteers — limited to no more than 10 people.
The day of service program is presented by the city of Surprise Human Service and Community Vitality Department.
