Surprise postpones city manager search
Interview process canceled after 59 apply for job

The Surprise City Council is postponing the recruitment for the next city manager.
“Our current City Manager Mike Frazier is not retiring until after the new year, so our council has some time to explore all our options,” Mayor Skip Hall said.
The City council thanked all 59 applicants that applied for the position.
“There are so many amazing people out there that choose public service as their career and we are grateful to those that applied for this position to help lead our city,” Hall said. “Our pause on the process is in no way a negative reflection of the applicant pool.”
The interview process for Sept. 28 has been canceled and the special council meeting for Sept. 29, in which finalists were to state why they desired to be the next city manager, will also be canceled.
Any additional updates on the recruitment process will be announced at the appropriate time.
