A Surprise resident is hosting a free online police academy art program for autistic or special needs kids and adults aged 7 to 21.
This two-week program takes place on Zoom at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, plus an in-person graduation event at Surprise Police Station from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
For this program, the students will learn how to draw a police motorcycle and also honor traffic Officer Anthony Defazio of Surprise Police Department by drawing him as a comic character model.
Students will get to meet Defazio on Zoom along side focus comic creator Yvonne Wan.
At the graduation event participants will get to meet Surprise Police Department officers, explore their vehicles, play with their drones and robots and latest technology for an amazing experience.
