A presentation tribute on guitar legend Eric Clapton will take place 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at Northwest Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard Ave.
This talk is hosted by Dana Grant and John Faser, who previously presented a “Neal Deal” retrospective of Neil Young. The Eric Clapton tribute will have a similar format, and will cover his life and career.
Clapton’s groundbreaking work with the Yardbirds, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith and Derek & the Dominos that earned him fortune and fame will be examined, an event news release states, as will how he was disillusioned, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and infatuated with his best friend’s wife that led to classic songs like “Layla.”
This 90-minute program will feature live performances of Clapton’s best-known songs, plus a working replica of “The Fool,” the psychedelically painted guitar Clapton used in ’60s supergroup Cream. Other information will include on how Clapton achieves his sound through equipment he uses.
