The Surprise Public Library System is introducing Words on Wheels, a six-month pilot program that serves people where they live, learn, work and play.
The overall objective of the free direct-delivery outreach program is to promote equity of service and enhance the opportunity of access to library amenities.
Surprise residents of all ages who are unable to visit a library on their own may request deliveries to their residence once a month.
SPLS provides a wide variety of library materials, including books, DVDs, music, audiobooks and large print.
To be eligible for direct-delivery, patrons must:
Patrons who are homebound may borrow up to five items at a time. Delivered items will be picked up four weeks later. Limited to one delivery per month.
Call 623-222-2901 for information and to get signed up. To initiate service, an individual must complete a Words on Wheels Service Patron Agreement.
After six months of service, the Arts, Culture and Library Department will review the successes and opportunities of the pilot program and adjust accordingly.
