Surprise hosting "Glow Off!" for Independence Day

July 4th party pack up for grabs

Posted

The city of Surprise is adding a fun social media contest to its modified July 4th celebration.

In addition to a socially distanced fireworks display, the city of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Fourth of July “Glow”-themed contest.

The contest, open to Surprise residents of all ages, will be a “Glow Off!" where people put together their best glow accessories and create a show. The city plans to post the videos on its social media pages.

Contest entries must be submitted by 3 p.m. Friday, July 3 for a chance to win a Fourth of July-themed party pack.

Three winners will be drawn at random from the submissions. The city is accepting files in video (MP4 preferred) or picture format (JPEG, PNG). Email submissions to Frank.DAndrea@surpriseaz.gov.

On Saturday, July 4, the city will feature a 20-minute fireworks display beginning at 8:40 p.m. The display will be staged in the area around Bullard Avenue and Paradise Lane.

The city encourages people to observe the fireworks show remotely from their homes or vehicles.

Limited surface parking is available at Surprise Stadium, Surprise Aquatic Center and Dreamcatcher Park.
