Surprise firefighter joins health foundation board

Vitalyst Health Foundation announced the addition of six new members to the organization’s board of directors.
The new board members bring extensive experience in public health, health policy, and law. The new board members are Ylenia Aguilar, Ann‐Marie Alameddin, Dede Yazzie Devine, Will Humble, Jesus Rivera, Colleen Lomax.
Mr. Rivera, Battalion Chief (Paramedic), has served as a member of the Surprise Fire-Medical Department for more than 21 years. Mr. Rivera is the Division Chief over Surprise’s Medical Services.
Mr. Rivera received the fire chief’s award in 2016, AEMS Aces of Hearts award in 2018 and the Image Trend Hooley Award for Innovation in 2019. He has an associate degree in paramedicine, and a bachelor’s degree in public safety leadership.
He has been involved in Surprise’s behavioral health program since 2015, is a partner in the West Valley Community Paramedicine Program and manages Surprise Ambulance and Treat and Refer programs.
Vitalyst Health Foundation is on a mission to inform, connect and support efforts to improve the health of individuals and communities in Arizona.
Over its history, the foundation has invested more than $100 million and established itself as a key thought leader, convener and catalyst of key initiatives — ranging from statewide health policy and systems to development of local community gardens.
