The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety recently awarded the Surprise Fire-Medical Department a $9,180 grant to help improve the proper and consistent use of child safety seats.
The funding will help the department provide 100 car seats, boosters and associated safety materials to local families as well as provide training for certified car seat technicians.
The Surprise Fire-Medical Department works closely with the Surprise Police Department to provide car seat clinics, occupant protection awareness events and education on the importance of using child safety seats in the car.
The child safety seat inspection events are from 9 to 11 a.m. on the first and third Tuesday and third Saturday of each month at Fire Station 303, 15440 N. Cotton Lane.
