Surprise family wins A/C unit

Fourniers 1 of 3 picked for Chas Roberts giveaway

Posted

A Surprise family is one of three lucky Valley winners to receive a new A/C system for free as part of Chas Roberts’ 11th Annual Cool Play Giveaway.

The Fourniers, a military family with three children, ages 7, 3 and 1, were in the need of help last fall when 3-year-old Bethanie was diagnosed with leukemia.

Bethanie recently began a new, stronger chemotherapy treatment, and that’s been tough on the family.

A neighbor nominated the family for the contest because their home’s A/C began working inefficiently.

“We are truly speechless,” Stephanie Fournier said in a news release. “Our daughter has leukemia, and it’s very important to keep our house cool. We’ve needed a new A/C unit for a while now but just couldn’t afford it. We are so thankful to Chas Roberts for giving us this amazing gift.”

The local, family-owned A/C, heating and plumbing provider also will donate new A/C systems, including installation, to Beverly Matamoros of Phoenix and Jennifer Moyer of San Tan Valley.

Chas Roberts President and CEO Sissie Roberts Shank started the Cool Play Giveaway as a way to help local families or organizations that may be undergoing a hardship but also  need a new A/C system.

“So many people are struggling financially right now, and this is just one small way we can give back to those in our community,” Ms. Roberts Shank said in a news release.

Lennox, Carrier and Goodman donated the systems. Smiley Crane is providing service for roof installation.
