The Surprise City Council approved a rezoning on Feb. 21 to allow for a new QT convenience store on Grand and 163rd avenues.
The Council unanimously voted to approve the rezone of nearly five acres of property south of Grand and west of 163rd from a split of community commercial and rural residential to exclusively community commercial.
Plans for the 7,318-square-foot QT have been in the works since 2019. It calls for 16 gas pumps and four diesel bays. Access to the site will be primarily off of Grand and 163rd. The 4.94-acre piece of land was annexed into Surprise in 1987.
