Surprise Community Park upgrades now complete

Concrete curbing around lake among finished improvements

The community is invited to come out to enjoy upgrades at the Surprise Community Park on Bullard Avenue and Paradise Lane.

All major improvements are now complete, and the temporary closures and restrictions around the park have been removed.

Some project highlights include:

  • New concrete curbing around the lake to stop the water from rising onto the existing shoreline as water levels change. This improvement serves both park visitors and lake inhabitants.
  • Permanent asphalt has replaced the temporary dirt parking area north of the park and new LED lighting has been installed. This new parking area increases accessibility to the north side of the park.
  • A new drywell has been installed in the dog park area to help minimize ponding and mud after rain events.
  • An additional restroom was added to the north side of the park, providing a closer facility to the dog park and fishing pier.

Several smaller improvements were also completed throughout the park, including: new tables, shade canopies, epoxy in the south restroom and fresh paint on the ramadas.

On the south end of the Surprise Community Park complex, the City’s accessible athletic facility, Dreamcatcher Park, also received new exterior paint, creating a cohesive look in the area.
