All city park amenities are closing across Surprise, thanks the coronavirus fears.
City officials said Tuesday morning the city is closing all park amenities and facilities effective immediately to minimize the potential spread of illness — giving residents a few less things to do while waiting it out.
The closure includes: playgrounds, water fountains, basketball courts, pickleball courts, dog parks, skate parks, splash pads, restrooms and volleyball courts. Residents also cannot make ramada and field reservations.
Additionally, the following parks and recreation facilities remained closed:
Countryside Recreation Center, 15038 N. Parkview Place
Sierra Montana Recreation Center, 14861 N. Spring Lane
Villanueva Recreation Center, 15660 N. Hollyhock St.
Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, 14469 W. Paradise Lane
Surprise Aquatic Center, 15831 N. Bullard Ave.
Hollyhock Pool, 15808 N. Hollyhock St.
City officials are asking residents to practice social distancing while utilizing walking paths or open space and reminding people to wash or sanitize hands frequently. They are also asking anybody exhibiting symptoms of illness to not use the parks.
