Service helps residents who are at, below median income

Posted

Valley Metro has updated the income-qualified component of a service that helps Surprise residents get to medical appointments, gain employment opportunities and conduct basic shopping needs.

The RideChoice program provides transportation services for income-qualified residents for $3 per trip up to eight miles, with any additional miles costing $2 per mile.

Riders can take up to 20 trips per month but must be at or below 50% of the area median income level to qualify.

Visit the city of Surprise website at surpriseaz.gov to qualify and download the application.

After meeting all eligibility criteria, the city will forward the applicant’s information to Valley Metro for processing. That typically takes from seven to 10 business days.

RideChoice is also available for ADA-paratransit-certified people with disabilities and seniors age 65 and older. For information, log on to surpriseaz.gov/publictransit.

For additional questions about RideChoice in Surprise, contact neighborhoodservices@surpriseaz.gov.

To help slow the spread of COVID-19, Valley Metro is requiring face coverings on all transit services. For information, visit valleymetro.org/COVID19.
