Pickleball tourneys resume this weekend in Surprise

Surprise will host a series of tournaments for the fast-growing sport of pickleball, welcoming more than 1,900 participants to the city.

The following tournaments will take place at the Surprise Pickleball Courts, 14534 W. Tierra Buena Lane. Admission is free.

• Surprise Pickleball Association Battle of the Paddles, Sept. 25-26
SPA and USAPA sanctioned, double elimination pickleball tournament featuring more than 100 players competing in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and senior mixed doubles.

• Surprise Pickleball Association Monster Smash, Oct. 29-Nov. 1
SPA and USAPA sanctioned, double elimination pickleball tournament featuring more than 600 players competing in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and senior mixed doubles.

• Super Senior World Pickleball Championships, Dec. 2-5
USAPA sanctioned pickleball tournament featuring more than 450 players competing in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and senior mixed doubles. Skill groups 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0.

• Tommy Wong Memorial Tournament, Jan. 8-11
SPA and USAPA sanctioned, double elimination pickleball tournament featuring more than 750 players competing in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and senior mixed doubles.
