Letters: Kellis is best thing to happen to Dysart district

Posted

I recently heard that the Dysart Unified School District Governing Board is trying to pay off Dr. Quinn Kellis’ contract by spending millions of tax dollars to get rid of him.

I do not know the reasons behind this. The only thing I do know is that Dr. Kellis is the best thing that has ever happened to Dysart School District.

It has been a long time coming to finally have a superintendent who cares about the students and their education. I have had students in the district continuously since 2007.

I was so impressed when he got hired and I saw him walking around the High School campus and seeing him at different district events. Until that time I had never seen a superintendent on any campus.

I have two students this year that are involved in student council. They have expressed to me on several occasions that they love that he comes once a month to visit their class and informs them about what is happening in the district and he will answer any questions they have. He has always had an open-door policy.

I have noticed so many positive changes in the district since he was hired. In my opinion, there has to only be personal reasons from the school board to replace him. His only motives as a superintendent have been for good. He is concerned foremost for the students and teachers. How can this be a cause for removal?

Please help us in any way that you can to see that this doesn’t happen. Not only would it cost millions of dollars but the school district would be losing the best superintendent they have ever had and their only chance to have positive changes happen in an education system that has been run so poorly for years by governing boards who only have selfish motives.
