Letters: Hall, Sanders questioned for not staying safe

Posted

It is most disheartening and disconcerting to read that Mayor Hall and Councilman Sanders have tested positive for COVID-19. I wish them a speedy and strong recovery.

One wonders how seriously our leaders take the advice coming from the Center for Disease Control. Reasonable people everywhere have been taking appropriate precautions ever since the news first came through.

I am blessed with having medical people in my family, and they all tell me that it is too early to simply reopen everything the way it was three months ago and that a vaccine can’t be developed as fast as people imagine.

Certain leaders, like Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo in New York, step up day after day and take charge, and have succeeded in saving countless lives in New York City, with its eight million people, avoiding a catastrophe.

With a fraction of that population, why aren’t our leaders in Surprise teaching by example?

This challenge calls for bold leadership and engagement in the long game

If Hall and Sanders don’t have regard for themselves and their families, how much regard do you think they have for their constituents?
