Letters: Dysart USD serves children of Luke AFB

Posted

When I think about the Dysart Unified School District, I can’t help but think of Luke Air Force Base. Luke AFB is a driving force in Arizona’s economy and a linchpin for our national security.

The children of the patriots who serve at Luke primarily attend Dysart schools. Dysart serves those who serve, and as a former servicemember in the U.S. Navy, I feel that we cannot and should not let them down.

Since the recession our schools have had to do more with less. We’ve had to cut to the bone and we continue to try to get by with less and less. But retaining highly qualified teachers, keeping reading and math support available and maintaining great special area programs for our kids is at its breaking point.

More families are moving in to our growing communities and the district needs our support to keep class sizes manageable. I see the Dysart override as my opportunity to be a champion for our kids and make a difference in the future of our district.

We have the opportunity to make Dysart the jewel of the West Valley. Please join me and send in your ballot with a “yes” vote.
