Letters: Cline seems like good choice in D2

Please support Alyson Cline with your vote for District 2.

I first met Ms. Cline in 2013 when our Softball Club was hosting a benefit for the American Cancer Society.  “Aly” was chair for Relay for Life which was to be our benefactor supporting the fight against the dreadful disease, cancer. Her enthusiasm and professionalism were truly inspirational to our entire club, and as a result, we continue each year to repeat our efforts in support of the efforts of Relay for Life.

What do you want in a city council member? I want one who has demonstrated the passion of serving others without concern for self-interest. I call this “service above self”, a value we should hold high.

I also want to have a representative who understands the needs of not only the city, but of the residents he or she is to represent.

Over the past two years, Alyson Cline has been a member of the Sun City Grand Finance Advisory Committee and involved in the long-range financial planning to ensure our community remains financially strong. I am not aware of her opponent being involved at all.

For the past eight years, Alyson has led “Friends of the Library." During the time of her leadership, this team of volunteers has raised and contributed over $650,000 supporting the city of Surprise, the libraries, and local schools. Over $300,000 was invested to our schools and teachers through their grant program.

I could go on but do hope you can see how Alyson Cline has used her financial background and corporate management experience to support the city and the community in which she lives.

We need such leadership within our city government, and that is why I am asking that you please consider voting for Aly Cline for City Council.
