The League of Women Voters of Northwest Maricopa County and the National Organization for Women of Sun City/West Valley are co-sponsoring a fundraising event 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the UU Church, 17540 N. Avenue of the Arts, Surprise.

The League of Women Voters of Northwest Maricopa County and the National Organization for Women of Sun City/West Valley are co-sponsoring a fundraising event 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the UU Church, 17540 N. Avenue of the Arts, Surprise.

Tickets are $15, payable at the door by cash or check. The proceeds benefit healthcare for under-served women. There will be a special screening of the documentary film “Risk: Women on the Frontline” directed by Andrea Pritchard.

There will be a raffle, and light refreshments.

NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political and economic life.

League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League also welcomes men as members.
