Jack “John G.” Krause

Posted

Jack, age 87, of Deerwood died on June 28, 2020 at his home on Serpent Lake. He was born on February 24, 1933 in Minneapolis during the Great Depression to older parents, which deeply influenced the development of Jack’s character. He attended Catholic grade schools and finished 8th grade at Immaculate Conception in Columbia Heights, where he commuted by car from Mounds View to school. The good nuns of Immaculate Conception strongly suggested that his parents send him to De La Salle High School where the good Brothers further developed Jack’s character.
Upon graduation at age 18, he secured a job on the assembly line at Donaldson Company Incorporated in Bloomington, where he worked his way from the factory, to the lab, to sales, to his final position before retirement as an International Business Director. He retired at age 62 after 44 years at DCI, having never missed a paycheck. He was a proud member of AA for 35 years. If you could only use one word to describe Jack, it would be Tenacious.
Jack “the jock” loved sports his whole life. He continued to play, watch and coach throughout his life. Football, baseball, golfing, bicycling, skiing, work outs at the gym, well into his 80’s until cancer finally slowed him down. Jack and Sharon were “Snowbirds” descending to Sun City West, AZ on November 1st enjoying golf, softball, and travel, returning May 1st to their beloved Minnesota.
Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sharon Barott Krause; six children, Gary (Liz Scarlett) Krause, Sandra Krause, Janet (Michael) Sandretzky, Nancy (Rich) Friedrichs, Kristina (Ramin) Rashedi and John Joseph Krause; eleven grandchildren, Peter Krause, William Krause, Katie Hobday, Melissa Martini Laughlin, Jack Friedrichs, Lindsey Sandretzky, Ayla Sandretzy, Isaac Krause, Noah Krause, Arianna Rashedi, and Sam Rashedi; great-grandchildren, Angiulo Damiani, Kameron Krause, Kiona Krause, Ben Hobday, Jon Hobday, Finnley Rousu, Connor Laughlin, Emma Laughlin and Taylor Laughlin; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, Leo and Kathryn Krause; one brother, Elroy; four sisters, Marion, Marge, Maxine and Mary Agnes; daughter-in-law, Kristi Hoff Krause and grandson, Adam Michael Sandretzky.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Oak Park Cemetery in Forest Lake. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Vincent DePaul or the Cuyuna Range Food Bank (218-546-7444).
