Improv under hypnosis with Colin Mochrie

Straight from their New York City run of 70 shows, HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis, starring Colin Mochrie (of “Whose Line Is It, Anyway?”) and Asad Mecci (Master Hypnotist), stops for one-night-only show 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road, Wickenburg.
HYPROV (pronounced hip-rawv) has performed more than 200 shows throughout North America and Europe since its premiere in 2016. The live show combines hypnosis and improvisational comedy - two art forms that have mystified and entertained fans, skeptics and everything in between for decades.
Mecci, an entertainer seen on MTV, Maxim Online and “Entertainment Tonight,” invites 20 volunteers from the audience onstage to be hypnotized. He says he got the idea while doing comedy hypnosis shows with Toronto’s improv theater group, Second City. He discovered that improvisation teachers were searching for what he calls an “unconscious reaction” from their students.
During the show, the four or five “best hypnotized” participants remain on stage to improvise with Mochrie in hysterical scenarios suggested by the audience.
Tickets start at $47 for adults and are $5 for those 18 and younger. The show is recommended for youth 13 years and older; parental discretion is advised.
